About

The SK Soccer Legacy Project is a living, breathing preservation of Saskatoon soccer—built for past, present, and future generations. Rooted in community, our project grew out of a committee formed through the Saskatoon Soccer Centre Inc. board (a non-profit that helped build Saskatoon’s two premier soccer facilities). We believe History Creates Culture. By collecting and celebrating the stories, achievements, and contributions of all who’ve been part of the beautiful game in Saskatchewan, we strengthen the culture of soccer here at home.

WHAT DO WE DO?

We bring soccer history to life through three pillars: Collection, Preservation, and Showcase.

I. Collection: We rescue artifacts, memorabilia, and “gems” from basements and boxes—items that might otherwise be lost.

II. Preservation: We archive what we collect in a dedicated space, working toward a professional, museum-standard process so materials can be organized, protected, and retrieved for years to come.

III. Showcase: We curate physical displays in Saskatoon’s soccer centers that help members and guests feel informed, inspired, and proud of the contributions our soccer community has made for well over a century.

WHY THIS PROJECT MATTERS

As the home of soccer in Saskatoon, we believe it only makes sense to lead the preservation of our soccer past while helping prepare the future of the game. This is our way of giving back—leaving a legacy that honours the people, clubs, teams, volunteers, and moments that built the culture we enjoy today. Our long-term vision is bold and simple: build the most comprehensive and accessible archive of Saskatoon soccer history anywhere so that everyone who walks into our soccer and sports centers has an opportunity to be impacted by Saskatoon’s soccer story.

WE DON'T JUST STORE HISTORY—WE SHARE IT!

We launch two collections each year, often with a public event featuring a program and a grand reveal designed to gather the Saskatchewan soccer community and celebrate together.

We also capture the spirit of the game through conversation. Our SK Legacy Project podcast celebrates stories from across the province, and our “public house discussions” are relaxed, post-match-style conversations that feel like teammates reminiscing after the final whistle.

On the sidelines, the project is designed to be an authentic collaboration powered by volunteers, guided by a small leadership committee, and strengthened through relationships with community partners who care about the sport or soccer.
